Welcome to First Nation Distributors. My name is Benjamin Thomson, and I am honoured to serve as the Director and Founder of this culturally, socially, and environmentally responsible company.   

As a proud Wiradjuri man hailing from Sydney, raised on Darug Country, and now residing on Gubbi Gubbi/Kabi Kabi Country in Sunshine Coast, I am deeply connected to my indigenous roots. My bloodlines trace back to the Bila Galari (Upper Lachlan Rivers) within Wiradjuri Country in far west NSW before colonisation. Through my mother’s bloodline and through marriage, I carry the family names of Wedge, Coe, Ingram, Glass, and Williams.   

From an early age, I was fortunate to attend an Aboriginal pre-school run by my family in Mt Druitt. This experience instilled in me a strong sense of belonging and pride in my heritage. Through sports and education, I quickly became aware of the disadvantages faced by Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander communities. Motivated by a desire to improve these statistics, I dedicated over 7 years of my life as a youth worker.    

My journey continued as I entered university, where I gained exposure to new creative ideas and perspectives. During this time, I pursued a Bachelor of Education, focusing on Flexible Learning environments, where I worked closely with young First Nations and non-First Nations individuals.   

Inspired to foster a sense of pride for both Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people and non-Indigenous communities, I founded Take Pride Movement, a clothing company aimed at promoting unity and cultural appreciation. Through Take Pride Movement, I discovered my passion for entrepreneurship and gained valuable insights into the world of business. I envisioned a future of financial freedom for myself and my family, which led me to explore new ideas and ventures. Extensive market research revealed an unmet need for accessible Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). Determined to address this gap, I established First Nation Defibs.  

As a platinum distributor for STRYKER Australasia, First Nation Defibs quickly achieved success by providing life-saving AEDs and accessories throughout Australia. However, due to the strong relationships we built with our customers, we received requests for additional products, hence First Nation Distributors was born. We have since expanded the range of products we distribute in the Medical, Safety, Eco-Friendly and Procurement sourcing pillars. 

We carefully select products to distribute that fit in with our mission statement, ensuring that our customers have access to the best possible solutions for their needs. Today, First Nation Distributors proudly stands as a Supply Nation Certified business. We are committed to supporting corporate customers in their journey to meet and exceed their Reconciliation Action Plans. Collaborating with like-minded companies across Australia, we strive to promote indigenous health, environmental sustainability, and the safety of their staff, clients, and customers.
